I Wont Go Documentary Produced by G Hurcombe Festivals One world peace festival Edindoc (opened Festival) LSFF Branchage SYNOPSIS: Oli is an elderly, eccentric ex-headmistress in her nineties, who now lives isolated and housebound in her condemned cottage in the Gloucestershire countryside, that she refuses to leave. Her only real companion is a small Shetland pony named 'Baby'. When Oli is visited by her former student-turned-filmmaker Georgina, a moving and surprising account of her life unfolds; from her unexpected past as a former millionaire, through to her daily struggles to keep her independence, despite age and infirmity. ‘I Won't Go’ is a short documentary following the final years of a determined, lively and thoroughly unconventional elderly woman which questions society’s right to judge the way in which we choose to live. ‘I Won’t Go’ is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, a celebration of independence and the desire to live our own lives. At the end of Oli's life, the documentary asks who is responsible for elderly care, and who is to decide where, and how we should live our final days?
